Multi-split installation

One outdoor unit, two to five indoor units on independent controls. The whole-home option.

From, fitted£4,200

A multi-split runs two to five indoor units off a single outdoor condenser. It's the right call when you want cooling in more than one room and don't want a forest of condensers on the side of the house.

Practically, the limit is five indoor units on a domestic outdoor unit — beyond that we'd specify a VRF system, which is a different conversation. For most Cheshire homes, two-to-four indoor units is the sweet spot: master bedroom + a couple of spare rooms, or open-plan kitchen-diner + first-floor bedrooms.

Each indoor unit has its own controller, so the bedroom can run at 19°C overnight while the study downstairs is off. The compressor in the outdoor unit only runs as hard as it needs to for the indoor units actually demanding cooling — no waste.

Pipework is the harder part of the job. We size each branch correctly, insulate it properly, and run it as cleanly as we can — usually inside trunking that paints out to match the wall. Liam's the one who works out how to route it through a Victorian terrace without taking up the airing cupboard.

What's included

Every install we do, this is in.

The line items below are non-negotiable on every job. Anything beyond — relocation of an outdoor unit, building works, listed-building consent — is quoted separately and clearly.

  • Heat-load calculation for every room
  • One outdoor condenser sized correctly for the combined load
  • Two to five indoor units on independent controls
  • Branch pipework, insulated and concealed where possible
  • Individual remote controls + optional Wi-Fi adapter
  • Commissioning and F-Gas record
  • Manufacturer's extended warranty (5–7 years)
Common questions

Things people ask before booking.

Do all the indoor units have to be the same brand?

Yes. The outdoor and indoor units have to be from the same manufacturer's matched range — they communicate over a proprietary refrigerant control loop. Mixing Daikin indoor with Mitsubishi outdoor doesn't work.

Can I add another indoor unit later?

Sometimes. If we sized the outdoor unit with headroom, yes — typically up to one more indoor unit can be added if the spare port is there and the kW budget allows. We'll flag this at the survey if you tell us a future room is on your mind.

How long does a multi-split take?

A two-indoor multi-split is usually two days. Three-indoor is two-to-three. Four or five is a three-to-four day install with two engineers and Sophie running commissioning.
