About · Knutsford, since 2014

Twelve years of properly sized systems.

David Marshall founded the firm in 2014 after eleven years on commercial refrigeration plant in Manchester. The plan was to bring the discipline of commercial refrigeration — proper sizing, proper paperwork, proper commissioning — to residential AC, where standards had drifted.

Founder's story

The standards conversation in residential AC was, in 2014, a long way behind commercial refrigeration. On the commercial side, an engineer had to do a heat-load calculation, log every ounce of refrigerant, and produce a commissioning record that could be audited five years later. On the residential side, in too many cases, the conversation went straight to "what unit do you fancy?".

Marshall Climate Control was started to bring the commercial discipline to the domestic side. That's still the founding principle. Every job — from a £1,800 single-split to a £22,000 commercial cassette install — gets a heat-load calc, a properly sized specification, a commissioning record, and an F-Gas paperwork trail. Nothing leaves the van without it.

Twelve years in, the firm is three people: David in the office and on the heavier installs, Liam running most of the multi-splits and the trickier pipework, and Sophie running surveys, commissioning paperwork, and most of the customer conversation. Between us we've fitted 412 systems across Cheshire and held a 4.9-star average across 87 reviews.

If you're looking for the cheapest fit-and-forget unit, we're not the right firm. If you want a system sized correctly, fitted properly, and serviced for the next fifteen years — that's what we're here for.

The team

Three people. The same three on every job.

No subcontractors, no rotating apprentices on the install list. The person who quotes the job is on the install. The person on the install is on the service plan. Continuity is part of the brief.

David spent eleven years on commercial refrigeration plant in Manchester before starting Marshall Climate Control in 2014. The plan was simple: bring the discipline of commercial refrigeration — proper sizing, proper paperwork, proper commissioning — to the residential side of the trade, where the standards had drifted.

He still does most of the heat-load calculations himself. The view in the office is that a system sized wrong on the spreadsheet stays wrong on the wall.

Senior Installer · joined 2019

Liam joined in 2019 from a heat-pump specialist in Cheadle. He runs most of the multi-split and cassette installs and, more importantly, is the one who works out how to route the pipework through a Victorian terrace without taking up any of the airing cupboard.

If you've had a finished install where you can't quite work out where the indoor and outdoor units talk to each other, that's Liam's signature.

Sophie joined in 2022 and now runs the desktop-survey process — the photos-and-questions intake that lets us size most jobs without a doorstep visit. She trained as a building surveyor before deciding the building services side was more interesting.

On site, she handles commissioning paperwork and the F-Gas record for every install. Nothing leaves the van without her sign-off.
