About us

On the tools, in the neighbourhood.

Mike Simons started Simons Electricals in 2014 after a decade working for a bigger contractor. The aim was simple: do good electrical work, charge fairly, and leave every house tidier than he found it.

Simons Electricals started in 2014. Before that, Mike spent ten years as a contracted electrician on bigger jobs — new-build estates, retail fit-outs, the occasional school refit. Good experience, plenty of variety, but the deeper he got into it the more he wanted to work directly with the people whose homes he was wiring.

Twelve years on, the company is still small, still local, and still run on the same principle: do the job properly, charge fairly, and leave the place tidier than you found it. Tom joined as an apprentice in 2024 and the two of them now cover most of the work between them, with the occasional day's help from a trusted second-year apprentice when a bigger job needs an extra pair of hands.

If you're after a charm offensive, you've come to the wrong electrician. If you're after work that's done once and done right, give us a ring.

The team

Two of us, properly qualified.

Mike does the running of the business, the quoting, and most of the work. Tom is two years into his apprenticeship and improving every week.

Mike Simons

Owner · Master electrician

Mike's been on the tools since he was sixteen. After a decade working for a big Chester-area contractor (new-build estates, retail units, the odd school refit), he went out on his own in 2014 to do the work the way he wanted to — properly, and with the customer in the room.

He's NICEIC-approved, Part P-registered, and qualified to the 18th Edition with the 2391 inspection ticket. When he's not on a job he's usually on the touchline at his daughter's under-tens football, or at home pretending he understands the homework.
