Repair and diagnostics

Something stopped working. We'll diagnose, quote the fix, and tell you honestly if a repair makes economic sense.

Diagnostic visit£95

Sometimes a system fails. The most common reasons are: a sensor that's drifted out of spec, a fan motor with worn bearings, a refrigerant leak that's tripped the low-pressure cut-out, or a control board that's gone open-circuit. None of these are catastrophic; all of them need diagnosis before we can quote a fix.

The £95 callout covers the diagnostic visit. We'll arrive, identify the fault, and quote the repair separately. If the fix is something we can do in the same visit (a refrigerant top-up, a sensor replacement) we'll often complete it then; bigger repairs (a compressor swap, a control board) need parts ordering and a return visit.

Where the system is older than ten years and the repair quote is high — say, a compressor on a unit that's twelve years old — we'll usually recommend replacement. We'd rather lose the repair revenue than fix a system that'll fail again next year. That's the long-view principle in practice.

What's included

Every install we do, this is in.

The line items below are non-negotiable on every job. Anything beyond — relocation of an outdoor unit, building works, listed-building consent — is quoted separately and clearly.

  • Diagnostic visit within 48 hours (24 hours for service-plan customers)
  • Full fault identification with explanation
  • Honest assessment of repair vs replace
  • Same-visit fix where possible (sensor, refrigerant top-up, filter)
  • Quoted repair before any further work
  • F-Gas leak check on any system that's lost charge
Common questions

Things people ask before booking.

What if the repair quote is more than the system is worth?

We'll tell you. If the unit is over ten years old and the fix is over £600, we usually recommend replacement and credit the £95 diagnostic against a new install if you go ahead with us.

Do you carry common parts?

Yes — refrigerant, common sensors, condensate pumps, filters, capacitors. Bigger components (control boards, compressors) are ordered in for the return visit.

Can you fix systems we didn't install?

Yes. Most of our repair work is on systems other firms fitted. We don't void anyone's warranty by working on it — we just record what we did so the next engineer knows.
